Sunday - Knots & Rigging for Trout with Tim Flagler  $97.25  BUY HERE

Sunday 8:30 - 11:00am - Knots & Rigging for Trout with Tim Flagler: This class will cover many of the knots needed as well as different rigs used for dry fly, dry dropper fishing, indicator nymphing, Euro-nymphing, and streamer fishing. Tim will cover why and when each knot is best used and how it can improve fly action, presentation and ultimately landing fish. He’ll have a large video monitor so he can also easily share what the rigs look like and how they act underwater. This will be a hands-on class teaching how to incorporate a variety of knots into different rigs for different trout fishing situations, and tips to tie them better and quicker. These knots will include the clinch knot, improved clinch, perfection loop, Davy & Double Davy, blood knot, Uni knot, surgeon’s knot and the non-slip loop knot. In addition, giveaways will include each participant receiving a tool to help make tying these knots easier. This class is a must to help you rig quicker and more effectively! All levels.

Monthly Meetings are back! Sort of....

This Tuesday, Sept 28th, Monocacy TU will be holding a virtual presentation given by Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions.

Meeting will be held via Zoom, and a link will be emailed to members on Tuesday.

Meeting starts promptly at 7pm.

While a virtual meeting lacks the things we enjoy about in person meetings,  it does make for a very accessible and still interactive presentation.  The Zoom platform works on your phone, iPad, tablet, laptop or desktop and is very easy to use. If you have any questions about using Zoom, please reach out to monocacytu491@gmail.com prior to Tuesday, and we can walk you through the steps to get up and running.

Trout Spey

Trout Spey is nothing new, it’s just a more effective way to swing flies like streamers, soft-hackles and classic wets. Yes, you can use it for nymphing and dry fly fishing, but swinging and stripping is where trout spey works best. The real difference comes when you employ either single-hand or two-hand spey casting techniques. These make for no back casts to worry about, much longer casts, easy, fast changes of cast direction, more effective mending and generally more relaxing fishing. Presentation is largely video-based but includes an equipment show-and-tell at the end.

Euro-Nymphing:

From the basics to advanced techniques. Presentation will illustrate how to get started by converting a standard trout rod, say, a 9’ 5 weight into a functional Euro-Nymphing set-up and the multiple steps that can be taken after that to produce an advanced outfit. Presentation will cover not only equipment, but flies and on-stream strategies and techniques as well. 

Tim has been featured as a presenter and tier at many venues around the country. He is a regular guest tier and presenter at the International Fly Fishing Symposim, as well as the numerous locations of the Fly Fishing Show.  Tim's fly tying video productions featured on the Orvis and Midcurrent web pages, among others.  Here is a sample of one of these outstanding videos:
